William A. Egan was born October 8, 1914 in Valdez, Alaska, to Cora Allen Egan and William E. Egan. Egan graduated from Valdez High School and held various jobs before being elected to the Valdez City Council in 1937. He was elected to the Alaska Territorial House of Representatives from the Third Judicial Division in 1940 and wrote and introduced the first bill for a territorial referendum on statehood for Alaska the following year. George M. McLaughlin was born in Hempstead, New York in 1914. He received a B.A. degree from St. Peter's College in New Jersey in 1936, and a law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1938. He had a private law practice in Anchorage from 1949 to 1958. McLaughlin also served as Anchorage City Magistrate (1952-1955), delegate to the Alaska Constitutional Convention (1955-1956), board member of the Cook Inlet Historical Society (1955-1958), founder of the Alaska Igloo of the Friendly Sons...
